This is the story of two high school hearts who unknowingly embarked on a journey that would walk out God’s divine intervention. Gabriel was a senior at Mission Bay High School in San Diego, CA and Vicky was just a Freshman starting her high school path. Their paths converged in the most mundane of settings—the school bus, of all places.
He noticed her one day and chose to sit next to her, especially since there was nowhere else to sit. It only made it easier and without a moment’s hesitation, he gestured towards the empty seat beside her, a silent offer of sanctuary. From that day forth, the invitation to their life story began. He would save her a spot time to time, and she would grace it with her presence, her smile always took Gabriel by surprise as it was mesmerizing and she fell in love with his big green eyes. You would almost say there was a silent thank you that spoke volumes to both their hearts when they were able to sit next to each other.
Days turned to months, and their friendship and engagements became more common. Conversations flowed as easily as the ink from their pens when they did their homework; then again, they both never really did their homework, haha, but as the final chapters of high school drew closer for Gabriel, the inevitability of farewell loomed over them. What could have been… never became, and Graduation day came—a bittersweet symphony of caps thrown into the air and dreams catapulting into the future. With thoughts of promises to stay in touch buried under the weight of new beginnings, they drifted apart, their bus rides together becoming a cherished memory tucked away in the corners of their hearts.
For 14 years, life danced on, spinning them into its relentless twirl of experiences, growth, and separate lives, only waiting for the divine written story of their lives to intervene. Then, one day, Gabriel had a random thought of Vicky that crossed his mind, “Whatever happened to her?” only to be on his FB feed a few days later, coming across a photo of a group of old classmates with one being Vicky. As Gabriel smiled and thought, “Wow, what are the chances?” he excitedly searched to see if Vicky was tagged in the photo. To his surprise and excitement, she was! At this moment, Gabriel clicked on Vicky’s name to send her a private message. What became a few messages eventually drew them to a “meet up” since Vicky stated with certainty it was not a date :P. What was just a “meet up” then became into a moment of conversation about how much God had drastically changed so much of their lives. As laughs and tears were shared throughout their night, the unforgettable commonality of sharing how good God was and what He was doing in their lives quickly became their highlight, like the dawn of a new day… a new beginning. Talk about divine intervention! …What went from just one “meet up” went to courting, to them eventually getting married… yes, they got married! Now you may be asking if they got married, then why the second wedding ceremony? Keep reading on….
So it was clear that God had been the architect of their reunion, His plans far surpassing their own. With hearts full of gratitude and love, they embarked on the journey of a lifetime, united in matrimony. The Lord’s message to Gabriel was as clear as the day they were reunited: “Get the house, and everything else will follow.” And so, instead of having a grand wedding they decided to get a house and focus on a wedding later. So they eloped and got married at a winter wonderland in Lake Tahoe, CA. Once married, they decided, “We can plan our big wedding in a year,” and what was supposed to be a year wait became 7 years, but in the meantime, they built a home, not just of bricks and mortar, but of faith, love, and their shared belief in the power of God’s guiding hand.
Now, 7 years into their blessed union, they stand on the threshold of a dream long deferred. Although they never had the wedding they once envisioned, God, in its infinite wisdom, has presented them with a second chance. A chance to celebrate their love, their faith, and the incredible journey that has led them to this moment. Not only celebrate it with themselves but with every one of you!
As they prepare to renew their vows in the presence of God, family, and friends, they extend this invitation to you. To share in the joy of a love that was lost and found, a testament to the enduring power of faith and the mysterious ways in which God works in our lives. This wedding is not just a celebration of their union but a celebration of all that is possible when love is rooted in faith, the Word of God, and His direction in your life.
They are excited to share this moment with you, to express their love and faith in God, and to show the world the beauty of a love story that was divinely orchestrated. It is a story of hope, of second chances, and of the unwavering belief that with God, all things are possible.
As you witness their vows, let their story be a reminder of the incredible power of love and faith. Let it inspire you to hold onto hope, to cherish the journey, and to always believe in the strength of the bonds that bind us together.
Welcome to the celebration of a lifetime—a celebration of Faith, Love, and the miraculous ways in which our lives unfold under God’s loving gaze.
